Overview of the Klipsch Reference Cinema
The Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System was released on June 16, 2021, with much fanfare. Klipsch is known for its sound quality, and the Klipsch Reference Cinema is no exception. This 5.1.4 system contains four satellite speakers, one center channel speaker, and one subwoofer to provide a true 3D surround sound experience.
The Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos System is explicitly designed to bring out all of the nuances of today’s movies dramatically and powerfully. This system is a great choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home theater system to the latest technology.
One of my friends bought the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System last summer, and he’s been speaking highly of it ever since. So I asked if I could borrow it from him to write a comprehensive review for you all.
This review will cover the design and build quality, features and connectivity, audio performance, setup and ease of use, pros, and cons, and ultimately help you determine if this home theater system fits your needs. Let’s get started!
Design and Build Quality
The Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System is designed to be simple yet sophisticated, conveying the aesthetic of a home cinema system without looking overly complicated or cluttered.
When it comes to build quality, the Klipsch Reference Cinema System is top-notch. Each component is well-made and constructed from durable materials, giving the system an air of professionalism and making it perfect for anyone serious about home cinema. In addition, the 10″ subwoofer provides intense bass, and the satellite speakers deliver height effects from both the front and back for a world-class experience.
In terms of value for money, this system stands out among similarly-priced competitors in terms of design and build quality. In addition, it’s dynamic with movies and can sound great with music, making it one of the best in its price range for anyone looking for a high-quality home cinema system.
So, I’ve been using a soundbar for a while now, and I recently tried out a setup with four satellite speakers and one center channel speaker. It’s definitely a change, having all those speakers on my TV console! But, even though the three speakers together are smaller than my Sonos Arc soundbar, I’ve got to say I still prefer the simplicity of a single soundbar.
Don’t get me wrong; the two satellite and center channel speakers aren’t bad – they provide great audio quality. But for me, there’s just something about a simplified setup that makes everything feel cozy and inviting.
Setup and Ease Of Use
I recently set up the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System, and it took me just under an hour. Most of the time was spent laying out and connecting the wires to the speakers and subwoofer.
Fortunately, the instructions provided by Klipsch were straightforward to understand. It’s worth noting that setting up a brand-new system from Klipsch may be even easier, as I borrowed this one from a friend.
Features and Connectivity
In terms of design, the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System features a sleek black finish with a modern look that will fit into any home theater setup. The satellite speakers are relatively small, making them easy to place around the room without taking up too much space. In addition, the 10-inch subwoofer is compact enough to fit into most spaces without being obtrusive.
If you’re searching for a wireless home theater system, the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System may not be what you’re looking for as it is a wired system. However, if you prefer a wired system, you’ll be pleased to know that this one produces top-quality sound.
You’ll appreciate that the package includes all the necessary speaker wires. Remember, the binding posts need thin, bare wires – no banana plugs here!
Be mindful not to push the wires too far in, which may lead to no sound. And since the wires aren’t labeled, take your time connecting them methodically (I marked the wires to distinguish which is which easily).
Audio Performance
I recently had the pleasure of watching Blade Runner 2049 with the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System, and I must say that it was an incredible experience. The audio performance of this system is top-notch, and it truly enhanced my experience.
The clarity of the sound was impressive, with every detail coming through loud and clear. The dialogue was easy to understand, and the sound effects were incredibly immersive. In addition, the balance between the front and rear speakers was perfect, allowing for a truly cinematic experience.
The 10″ subwoofer provided deep bass that brought out the action scenes in Blade Runner 2049. In addition, it added a level of realism to the movie that I hadn’t experienced before with other sound systems or soundbars.
I also appreciated how easy it was to set up this system – it took me less than an hour to connect everything.
I’m very impressed with the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 System’s audio performance when watching Blade Runner 2049. It provides a level of clarity, depth, and balance you won’t find in most other surround sound systems or soundbars on the market today.

- Not Portable: Due to its wired setup, this system is not easily portable and must remain in one location once installed.
Should You Buy It?

Are you wondering if the Klipsch Reference Cinema System is worth the investment? I think it’s a great choice for those who prefer a more traditional home theater setup. Despite having tested more expensive Klipsch products, I was pleasantly surprised by the solid performance of this system.
This setup works particularly well in medium-sized rooms, especially if you can hide the wires connecting the rear surround speakers. One option is to place a rug over the wires or neatly tuck them along the baseboard. Of course, a wired connection is always the ideal choice if you’re looking for an uninterrupted system. However, the Klipsch Reference Cinema may not be the best fit for you if you’re after a wireless option.
I hope you found this review helpful. I plan on keeping the Klipsch Reference Cinema System for a few more days before returning it to my friend.
